Carlos B. de Araújo has a MSc and PhD degrees at Unicamp under a co-tutering of Dr. Jacques Vielliard and Dr. L.O. Marcondes-Machado, studying Parrot's bioacoustics and feeding behavior at the Cerrado's of Brazil. Between 2012-2016 he was a Postdoc Fellow at Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPB), aiming to establish bioacoustics within UFPB in a network context that includes the creation of the Neotropical Bioacoustics Society, which he is the first secretary. He is currently a visitant professor at Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio Grande do Norte studying several taxonomic groups such as Birds, Frogs, Fish or Bees. He is currently interested in a broad range aspects of animal sound communication such as the negative impact of noise in the communication, automated call detection, acoustical niche partition, call evolution, as well as sexual selection.
